Once again, we will be offering a preferential entry to those riders who volunteer or nominate someone to volunteer on their behalf.
Adrenalin-rush. Partnership. Achievement. These are just three of the things you will experience as you demonstrate your talent at Skipton Building Society Horse Trials, which is conveniently located for access from the M65 and North Yorkshire.
COMPETITORS PLEASE NOTE: Horseboxes and vehicles towing trailers will be admitted for free including all occupants. Grooms, supporters or holding-the-horse other halves travelling separately will be expected to pay the entrance fee of £5 per person if they are not a member of British Eventing.
If you are walking the course the day before your class, please bring your BE membership card if you would like free entry.
Only wagons and trailers will be allowed to park on the box park. All cars must be parked in the Visitors parking area.
Since the new team took up the reins at Skipton in 2009, the site layout has been changed to develop more of a central hub, and a great deal has been invested in upgrading the cross country course. This work has so far not only included new fences, but extensive works to the water complex, and we will be continuing these developments in time for the 2010 season.
Each competitor must complete all three very different phases, which are dressage, cross country and showjumping, with the overall penalty score giving your final result.
2009 saw international course builder Gary Podmore join the Skipton team as the Cross Country Course Designer and Builder, and he brings with him a whole team of experts. Gary is a reputable and extremely experienced builder, who is responsible for prestigious events such as Bramham and Boekelo.
Not only that, but in 2009 a new Organising Team made up of longstanding Skipton supporters, took control of the event. The new team is headed up by Paul White, Robin Bower and Michael Bower as Event Directors, with Norma Bowes and Paula Hartley as the Event Secretaries. Lisa Leddicoat is the new Operations Manager, Carolyn Simm looks after Entries and Donna Hastie is responsible for Health and Safety.
